2013 in review

Every year, The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepare an annual blog report, which I find very interesting.

Here’s this year’s report:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 160,000 times in 2013. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 7 days for that many people to see it.

In 2013, there were 134 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 234 posts.

The busiest day of the year was July 7th with 1,561 views. The most popular post that day was What TO Say to Multiples. That one apparently stirred up some action!

Pretty neat, huh?  Thank you for sharing this wild ride with us and don’t forget to stop by in 2014!

I regularly check up on our stats with the WordPress app to see where our visitors are from and what terms are used in search engines.  I’m often amazed at how much traffic we generate, and even with our stats I’m not sure exactly where our readers are located.  For example, whether you live in Fargo, North Dakota or Tampa, Florida it shows up at “United States”.  If you have a few seconds to spare, I’d love to know:

1. Where are you from? (Perhaps you are from a faraway land, or maybe just around the corner.  Either way, I’d love to know!)

2. How did you find us? (Did you search for something on Google? Are you a friend of a friend or a relative twice removed?)

hugs!

Amber

P.S. Amber & Krista, Thank you for sharing some blog love with me!  You two are my among my top referrers and commenters.

  1. I’m a friend of Treva M.; she referred me to your charming & helpful blog when our daughter gave birth to quints in August 2012. I live in Cedar Hill now, as the quints, their older brother, and their parents are living in our former Duncanville home–and need every square foot!

    • I remember you explaining our mutual friends once. Six degrees of separation is are fascinating! I’m so happy Treva sent you over here 🙂
When we feel crowded over here, we shall imagine life with grandparents, parents, a big brother, and quints in one house. That’s cozy 🙂

    • That’s so neat! I honestly had no idea there were quad and quint blogs until I found out we were expecting quads and desperately googled for hopeful information. The King Squad is another of our top referrers. They’ve given us some serious blog love. Stay warm in Nova Scotia! You must be among our loyal Canadian following =) Happy 2014!

    • You must be the views I get from Sweeden! I get just a few here and there. I’m so happy you enjoy my tips, four toddlers are really challenging me and I’m always trying out new things to keep them busy.
Are you enjoying your Baby Legs? My boys are a bit big for them, but the girls are still getting use out of theirs with dresses and skirts.

      • I love the baby legs, we use them when our little one is without diper on a blanket on the floor. A little cold for them when we go outside. But we use them as regular legwarmers until better weather 🙂

        Like

      • That’s a great way to use them! I can imagine the temperature in Sweeden is a bit cooler than here =) Hopefully you’ll get some warmer days in the future to wear them outside. They are so cute!

    • Hehe! I’d guess you found us through Texas Tales. Seriously, they are our top referrer! I owe Amber Bell many thanks for sharing her blog love. Stay warm in South Dakota! I’m guessing it’s quite a bit cooler up there than here in Texas =)

  7. Hi I am a reader from Brisbane Australia- HOM are rare these days in Australia- IVF protocols dictate SET and in special circumstances DET. Love reading what you get up to with 4 little people and admire your posts that talk about creating things like sensory bags- I’d be pretty pleased with myself if I showered everyday with four toddlers! I came via Texas Tales another great blogger.

    • Hi Jo! I’m loving finding out who represents the countries who visit our blog. I finally googled “4 More to Adore” because that is a common search term for us and discovered a mum in Australia that had quads this year. After I found her FB page, I learned that only 1-2 sets are born in Australia each year. WOW! I have heard that in the UK selective reduction is highly encouraged and I wonder if that is common in other areas too. I’m so glad you enjoy keeping up with us. Sometimes getting showered is an accomplishment for the day…that’s just no fun to post about. Hehe. Texas Tales is fantastic!

I’ve been following your blog since before the babies were born, but this is my first time commenting! I think I found your blog through Amber’s blog, Texas Tales, but I’m not really positive because its been such a long time, however reading the other comments I’m guessing you wouldn’t be surprised if this was were I found you guys 🙂 I’m originally from Dallas and Austin, but I live in Cincinnati Ohio now and go to school at Ohio State in Columbus! Your children are such a joy, and I can’t wait to see what 2014 brings!!

I bet you’re right, Texas Tales was probably your referrer 🙂 Oh I bet Ohio is a bit different from Texas, especially regarding the weather. Good luck with your studies, and come home soon! I don’t think Texans rarely leave forever.

  9. Hi from Finland, Scandinavia, Nothern Europe. I am a mother of four but they are singles and born in less than six years apart. I am also a dentist and PhD. I found here to your beautiful blog via Texas Tales.
Wish you Happy Happy New Year!

    • Hi Jutta! I often hear mothers with four or more children tell me they how many they have with the caveat, “but I didn’t have them at the same time”. Raising quads is by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but I admire moms with different age children. You have your own set of unique challenges. Also, it’s wonderful that you maintained your career as a dentist! Love that! Happy New Year!

I found you thorough WordPress….just searched infertility blogs and there you were! You guys are so adorable, love that pic of you and your hubby with the stroller full of kiddos. Too cute!

  11. I’m from Switzerland and unfortunately can’t remember how I found you. It was probably not through any multiples blog, as yours is the only one I’m reading. Although I have “only” one baby girl, I enjoy your stories about the quads a lot and I find a lot of helpful tips about life with a (almost) toddler. I really like your writing style, it’s also a bit of a mini English lesson each time :-)! All the best for all of you!

    • Hi Claudia! Even thought you just have “one” little girl, I’m so happy you found us and are finding our tips helpful. Sometimes I think having quads is like a crash course in parenting, we are overwhelmed with so many that we figure out things fast. Ah, I love that reading this blog is helping your English too! That’s fantastic! Hugs to you!

  12. I’m in Utah and I found your blog in a very round-about way! I was reading through some comments on a craft blog, looking for Halloween costume ideas or something, and I saw a comment from the other Amber’s mom, saying something about making something for her quad grandkids. From her blog I found Amber’s blog, and from there I found your blog. I don’t know why I kept following both of you…I guess it’s just intriguing, since I have a 27-weeker preemie and fertility problems. And your kids are just so darn cute!

    • Haha, that is a rather round about way of discovering us, but so neat! Oh how the preemie mama and infertility clubs are special ones. Both are ones that no one wants to join, but the members are tightly bonded. Thank you for keeping up with our shenanigans! More to come in 2014!

    • Hi Elaine! I feel like I “know” you because Courtney used to say such nice things about you. Working in that office was really good for her. I could not agree more about Courtney and Sydney. We call Sydney her “mini me”. Seriously, if you saw her baby pictures you’d say they were near clones.

  14. Hi Amber,
I found your blog when someone in our town was having quads and I read the article in the newspaper. She had your blog and Texas Tales listed as her favorites. She stopped blogging a long time ago but I found it fascinating to see how it was done raising 4 kids (who are adorable btw) at once. I’ve been following since right after the kids were born. I don’t think I’ve ever posted before (sorry). I just want you to know how much I love both your blog and Texas Tales. I’m a nurse and a few of us follow your blogs at work. I live just outside San Diego.
    Thanks for sharing your family.
    Happy New Years.

    • I really admire people who foster children, especially so many. A good friend adopted after fostering and is now fostering an infant in hopes of another adoption. It cannot be easy to foster, but is such a beautiful thing to do for children in difficult circumstances. I loveeee our feeding table! I cannot imagine life without it. Big hugs to your crew!

  17. Hello from Lenexa, KS! I found your blog through google when I was having infertility issues and was going through IUI. It truly gave me hope to read your journey through infertility after struggling myself for so long. I started following just after the quads were born and continue to now. I love reading your posts and use several of your recommendations (I’ve used your baby food recipes and plan to make the wipes) now that I have a little one of my own.
